Quick-hit thoughts from around the NFL and with the Patriots:

1. It might be dangerous to make such a conclusion at this point, but based on some of the initial coaching changes with the Patriots, it seems like Bill Belichick might have felt he thrust a few young coaches into the fire too soon.

2. Sounds like the comments from Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams aren’t exactly the bulletin-board material some have made them out to be. Williams said he wants the Saints to give Peyton Manning some “remember-me shots” in the Super Bowl. What is the alternative? To rush and make sure Manning is untouched?

3. It will be interesting to hear what former Patriots defensive coordinator Dean Pees has to say about his decision to become Ravens linebacker coach. Just a hunch, but I think family considerations had something to do with him choosing that option over the Broncos defensive coordinator job.

4. Don’t follow the draft as closely as Mel Kiper, Todd McShay and Co., but it sure looks like Michigan defensive end Brandon Graham just played his way into the middle of the first round with a strong week at the Senior Bowl.

5. Not buying that the Patriots and Vince Wilfork’s representatives haven’t talked contract since the start of the 2009 season.

6. The Eagles’ new general manager, Howie Roseman, is 34 years old. Interesting story, as he first joined the team in 2000 as a salary cap specialist.

7. The Pro Bowl is an easy target for criticism every year. The game has always been poor, regardless of how many players pull out, but there’s still something neat about getting some of the top players together and seeing their personalities in a laid-back setting.

8. Improving locker room chemistry isn’t something you can just order up, but I’d expect that Bill Belichick might raise the bar a bit when considering who he is bringing into the room in 2010 because he didn’t have the right mix this year.

9. Enjoyed SI.com’s Don Banks’ take on Arizona’s Matt Leinart and the quarterback class of 2006.

10. The Colts and Saints are scheduled to arrive in South Florida tomorrow, kicking off a week of Super Bowl hype. The Saints are flying into Miami in the late morning, while the Colts are flying into Fort Lauderdale in the late afternoon.
