Jerod Mayo: Full-time in Foxboro

3/11/2010

Linebacker Jerod Mayo, who enters his third NFL season in 2010, has remained in town this offseason and has been a regular in the team's weight room.

"It's going well, I'm in here every day trying to get better and preparing for next year," Mayo told Brian Lowe of Patriots Today, which airs on Patriots.com.

"When the guys get back [for the offseason program later this month], I think everyone's mindset will be to get better each and every day, take it one day at a time. We're not really concerned about training camp right now, we're concerned about getting ourselves physically able to finish games. That was one of our problems -- not finishing games."

Mayo was interviewed by reporters today as he shot a public service announcement for United Way.

Mayo has led the Patriots in tackles each of the last two seasons, totaling 139 in 2008 and 114 in 2009. Prior to last season, he had expressed the desire to produce more big plays, which is a goal that will carry into 2010 as he finished with 1.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble as he played through a knee injury.
