In each of the last six offseasons, veteran defensive end Ty Warren has been a regular in the Patriots' offseason program. This year, he's taking a different route.

Warren doesn't plan to be in attendance for the voluntary work, as he'll pass up the chance to earn a $250,000 bonus. Instead, he's taking classes as Texas A&M as he works toward his degree in agriculture leadership and development. Warren eventually would like to return to A&M for a full-time job when his playing days are over.

He also realizes that he might have some extra time off next year, which factored into his decision.

"If we end up having a lockout in 2011, that's where you can find me, working with students," Warren said.

ESPNBoston.com has more on Warren's decision and why he thinks it's imporant at this time of his life.
