The Newark Star-Ledger catches up with Patriots coach Bill Belichick and talks to him about his appreciation for the sport of lacrosse. The article is timely, as Belichick is serving as the keynote speaker for Rutgers football’s annual coaches clinic today.
Belichick also has another reason to be on campus: His son, Stephen, attends Rutgers and is a member of the lacrosse team.
A snippet from the article:
Belichick was a volunteer coach for many of his kids’ teams, but even before they played, he found space for lacrosse during breaks in the NFL calendar — from stops in Detroit to Denver as he climbed the coaching ladder.
"Look, I’m sure I would have been fine coaching lacrosse," Belichick said. "It wasn’t something I planned this way. But I got an opportunity in the NFL, it led to another one, and before I knew it, it was a full-blown career."
