Trader Bill was at it again during draft

There were 33 trades made during this year's NFL draft, and the New England Patriots swung a league-high seven.

Every team has a different approach when it comes to making trades during the draft, and one thing has become clear in Bill Belichick's tenure as Patriots coach: He likes the poker game of wheeling and dealing.

Contrast that to the Indianapolis Colts, who were one of five teams this year to simply remain in their assigned spots and pick players. The other teams not to make any draft-day trades were Buffalo, Chicago, Cincinnati and the N.Y Giants.

Both approaches can work, and this is a reminder of how there is more than one way to attack a draft.

After going through all of this year's trades, here is the breakdown of teams and the number of deals they made on draft day:

New England – 7
Philadelphia – 6
Denver – 5
Oakland – 4
Arizona – 3
Dallas – 3
Houston – 3
Miami – 3
San Diego – 3
Washington – 3
Carolina – 2
Detroit – 2
Jacksonville – 2
Minnesota – 2
New Orleans – 2
N.Y. Jets – 2
San Francisco – 2
Seattle – 2
Tampa Bay – 2
Atlanta – 1
Baltimore – 1
Cleveland – 1
Green Bay – 1
Kansas City – 1
Pittsburgh – 1
St. Louis – 1
Tennessee – 1
