In reading materials on the 2010 NFL season, one statistic that caught the eye is the Patriots' success in season-opening games when compared to the rest of the league.

The team has won six straight season-openers, which is the second longest active streak in the NFL. Only the Pittsburgh Steelers have won more openers in a row (7).

A look at the top active streaks -- for both wins and losses -- on opening weekend:

Wins
Steelers -- 7
Patriots -- 6
Broncos -- 3
Cowboys -- 3
Packers -- 3

Losses
Raiders -- 7
Browns -- 5
Buccaneers -- 4
Chiefs -- 4
Dolphins -- 4
Jaguars -- 3
Rams -- 3

The last opening loss for the Patriots came in 2003 against the Bills, a 31-0 loss.

The Patriots have won 13 of their last 15 home openers. They are 8-0 in home openers at Gillette Stadium.
