Belichick doesn't play along on Schobel

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Patriots are thin at rush defensive end/outside linebacker and the Buffalo Bills are set to release Aaron Schobel, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

It seems like a possible match.

But if Bill Belichick is thinking along those lines from a Patriots perspective, he didn't let on during his Wednesday morning press conference.

When Belichick was told that left tackle Matt Light might be smiling a bit wider today because of Schobel's reported release (Light and Schobel have had some great battles over the years), and then was asked his thoughts on Schobel, he didn't bite.

"Right now I'm really just focused on our team," he responded. "I couldn't comment on anybody with anybody else. He's still under contract to Buffalo. Obviously he's a good player. He's given us great competition on the field."

On a related note, Belichick was asked if he was any closer to a resolution with rush defensive end/outside linebacker Derrick Burgess.

"I don't know," he responded.
