FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Patriots receiver Wes Welker passed his first on-field test Thursday in Atlanta, and he was pleased with how his left knee responded after the flight home. He experienced no additional pain.
“There were really no issues,” Welker said Monday after taking part in the team’s afternoon practice. “I felt great [the next morning], stayed on my routine of warming it up, and made sure I was icing it down after and getting massages on it. Everything came out just fine.”
When Welker reviewed his six-snap performance on tape, he wished he could have had one play back – his 14-yard reception.
“That was one route I could have run better,” he said, adding that he could have widened the cornerback more to give him more space to make a play. “I think I just got a little excited. Pre-snap, I thought it would be a big play.”
