FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Receiver Julian Edelman, who starred in the Patriots' preseason opener but played sparingly in the team's second preseason game, was absent from practice for the second straight day.
The reason for Edelman's absence is not clear; it could be injury related.
Edelman was on the field for just six offensive plays in the team's 28-10 victory over the Falcons last Thursday, catching one pass for eight yards. He was in the locker room after the game and answered questions from reporters. There were no noticeable signs of injury at the time.
In the preseason opener, Edelman totaled a team-high six receptions for 90 yards and added a 40-yard punt return. He was on the field for 22 offensive plays in that game.
