Each week during the preseason, a list of 10 Patriots areas to monitor has been passed along before the team's games.
With the team ready to visit the Giants in the preseason finale Thursday night, this week's list has been trimmed to five because this preseason contest pales in importance to the previous three from an overall perspective.
The main thing that stands out from this perspective will be how rookie cornerback Devin McCourty and second-year cornerback Darius Butler, the team's projected starters, respond from their subpar performance last week.
Cornerbacks need to have a short memory, so this will be a good test for them in that regard.
