Tight ends Rob Myers and Carson Butler have been informed that they will be waived by the Patriots as the team trims its roster to the 53-man limit by Saturday's deadline.
Both were longshots to earn a roster spot as the Patriots have solidified the tight end position with veteran Alge Crumpler and rookies Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.
Myers spent time on the Patriots' practice squad last season and could potentially return again if he clears waivers.
