Alexander, Clayton among Pats cuts

The Patriots have informed inside linebacker Eric Alexander and running back Thomas Clayton that they have been released/waived.
Neither move is a major surprise.
Alexander, a seven-year veteran, was on the bubble as more of a pure special teams player.
Clayton, who faced longshot odds on a stacked running back depth chart, has practice squad eligibility.
Today is the deadline for teams to cut rosters to 53 players.
