FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- One question entering last Sunday's game against the Bills was how often the Patriots would use the shotgun without running back Kevin Faulk, who was often quarterback Tom Brady's last layer of protection.
The answer: Business as usual.
Through the first two games of the season, the Patriots were in the shotgun 56 of their 123 snaps (penalties included), which was 45.5 percent of the time.
Sunday against Buffalo, the Patriots were in the shotgun 27 of 68 snaps, for a 39.7 percent clip.
So the season numbers now look like this:
Total snaps: 191
Total shotgun: 83
