On Tuesday, receiver Deion Branch said he expected to rework his contract, which was a key consideration in the Patriots' acquiring him in a trade.
The restructure reduces Branch's 2011 base salary from $5.95 million and puts it closer in line with Wes Welker's base salary of $2.15 million in 2011, according to a source. Branch has a chance to earn close to an additional $2 million in incentives.
Branch was willing to take the cut to return to New England and play with quarterback Tom Brady.
