FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Special teams were a hot topic of conversation this morning at Gillette Stadium. It’s a natural storyline as the Patriots have been excellent in this area, while the Chargers have been victimized.

Two nuggets of note:

Belichick lauds special teams coach. Speaking about Scott O’Brien, who is now in his second year leading the Patriots’ special teams units, Belichick said he is “as good as any coach I’ve ever coached with.” O’Brien had also served as Belichick’s special teams coach in Cleveland (1991-95).

Tracy White leading the way. The veteran linebacker (featured here in a “football journey” piece) has played more special teams snaps than any Patriot this season, Belichick said. White leads the team with eight special teams tackles and Belichick praised his contributions.
