Don Banks of SI.com delivers his first mock draft of the offseason and he focuses heavily on defense for the Patriots.
At No. 17, he goes with Wisconsin defensive end J.J. Watt, noting that he watched him closely this season because he lives in Wisconsin.
"He's got a non-stop motor, knows how to find the ballcarrier, and he seems to continuously improve his game," Banks writes.
At No. 28, Banks gives the Patriots outside linebacker Justin Houston of Georgia.
"The Patriots clearly need to generate more pass rush, and while he played more of a hybrid DE-OLB role in college, New England would use him at outside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme," he writes.
ANALYSIS: I think this is the type of draft that Patriots followers could get excited about because it addresses pass-rush needs and further strengthens the front seven. In Banks' projection, there are several solid options for the Patriots to consider at both positions.
