UCF coach to join Patriots staff

University of Central Florida running backs coach George Godsey is joining the New England Patriots coaching staff, the Orlando Sentinel reports today.

The report does not indicate what position Godsey will fill on the staff, and the Patriots have not made an official announcement.

Said UCF head coach George O'Leary: "George has been with me for a long time as a player and coach. This is happy news to see him get this opportunity to expand his coaching career with a great organization like the New England Patriots. I wish him good luck there.”

Godsey was a quarterback at Georgia Tech under O'Leary and joined his coaching staff at Central Florida as a graduate assistant in 2004. He has served as the team's quarterbacks coach (2005-2008) and running backs coach (2009-2010).
