One of the hot-button topics over the last week has been the NFL Players Association's* suggestion to draft picks to not attend the NFL draft. ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi opines on this in a piece now posted on ESPNBoston.com.

"It took me a few years to realize the true sacrifices many players before me made," Bruschi writes. "These incoming rookies do not have that luxury. They are being asked to show their loyalty to the past and current players before their name is even called by the commissioner. They are being asked to have an accelerated sense of maturity, responsibility, and duty.

"This is an unfortunate situation. All these young athletes should have to worry about is the game, but this is not the NFL in its prime. This is the NFL at a crossroads."

Bruschi believes the rookies should stay away from the draft.

"It is important that the next generation shows that they stand in solidarity with the current generation," he writes.
