Now that compensatory draft choices have been awarded by the NFL, the exact spots of each Patriots draft pick is known.

1a. 17th overall
1b. 28th overall
2a. 33rd overall
2b. 60th overall
3a. 74th overall
3b. 92nd overall
4. 125th overall
5. 159th overall
6. 193rd overall

A look at some of the recent players picked in those spots have been highlighted. On Saturday, the 193 spot was in focus, and on Sunday it was the 159 spot, followed by 125 and 92 and 74 and 60.

Today, it's the 33rd spot (second round):

2010: OT Rodger Saffold (Rams)
2009: S Louis Delmas (Lions)
2008: DE Phillip Merling (Dolphins)
2007: DT Alan Branch (Cardinals)
2006: LB DeMeco Ryans (Texans)
2005: C David Baas (49ers)
2004: LB Karlos Dansby (Cardinals)

ANALYSIS: One aspect to consider is that the first pick of the second round could produce some trade action, as teams will have had the first round on Thursday and will have time to restack their boards overnight. The Rams were in the same position last year and ended up making the pick, and it looks like they hit it nicely with left tackle Rodger Saffold. The last trade in this spot was in 2007 when the Cardinals moved up in the second round (38 to 33), trading Oakland a fourth-round draft choice to do so. Saffold, Louis Delmas, DeMeco Ryans and Karlos Dansby are all first-round caliber players, while David Baas has been a 16-game starter the last two years. Phillip Merling and Alan Branch have yet to emerge as full-time starters.
