ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi is snapping photos and writing on his climb of Mount Kilimanjaro for ESPNBoston.com. His first piece detailed how a longtime Patriots fan helped prepare him for Kilimanjaro, and his second piece -- filed today -- touches on the journey from New York to Kilimanjaro.
One aspect that has caught Bruschi's attention is how the Wounded Warriors are greeted like celebrities.
"Everyone thanks them for their service. Everyone thanks them for their sacrifice," Bruschi writes. "It was a great gesture when the captain acknowledged them on the plane, mentioning to everyone they were on the flight. Everyone gave them a big round of applause. That was really cool, and I was applauding too."
The trip got off to a poignant start at the 9/11 Memorial, and with a visit to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. On Thursday, the group went on a safari.
The climb of Kilimanjaro officially began today.
