Despite being on the field for 34 of 42 total first half snaps, wide receiver Deion Branch was not once targeted by a Patriots quarterback and finished the game without a catch in Saturday's preseason loss in Detroit.
It marked the second straight game Branch has been held without a reception, after seeing one pass thrown his way against the Buccaneers in the second week of the preseason.
"We're trying to work through a lot of different things in the preseason," Branch explained to sports radio WEEI in Boston on Monday morning. "I don't have any issues. I understand exactly what we're doing. I'm gonna roll with it."
With fellow top receiver Chad Ochocinco also held without a catch on Saturday night as he is eased into the Patriots offense, the Patriots will likely be leaning on Branch more as the regular season begins.
"Eventually things will unfold and we'll start opening certain things, and I'll get the ball, whatever," Branch said. "I'm not thinking about [not having a catch]...that's not in my thought process."
