FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots receiver Wes Welker has taken the field tonight and he is wearing his game pants, which is a sign that his neck injury is not serious. Welker was evasive when answering injury-related questions from reporters Tuesday, saying he hoped to be ready for the season opener Sept. 12 against the Dolphins but would leave it in the hands of team doctors.
"I think anything that has to do with that part of your body, it’s always scary," Welker said on Tuesday. "But we have good doctors, good trainers, so I wasn’t too worried about it. Now I'm just trying to get ready for the next game."
Welker sustained the injury while making a tackle on an interception Saturday night in Detroit.
