MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Welcome to Sun Life Stadium, where the Patriots visit the Dolphins in their season-opening game (ESPN, 7 p.m.).
Weather conditions. It is expected to be in the low 80s by kickoff, with a 15 percent chance of showers, according to Weather.com. When factoring in humidity, it feels like 90 degrees. There was heavy rain in the area today, but that has subsided.
Morelli gets the call. Referee Peter Morelli has been assigned to tonight's game. His crew is known for throwing fewer penalty flags than the norm.
Patriots: 2 more players to deactivate. After ruling out starting right tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back), reserve defensive end Jermaine Cunningham (groin), reserve center/guard Ryan Wendell (calf), receiver Taylor Price (hamstring) and linebacker Jeff Tarpinian (knee), the Patriots must deactivate two more players to get to the 46-man roster limit on game-day. If the Patriots promote a practice squad offensive lineman to give them a seventh blocker, it would require a roster move.
Patriots in white; Dolphins in aqua. The Patriots will don their standard road white jerseys tonight, with the Dolphins wearing aqua.
Faulk makes the trip. Veteran running back Kevin Faulk, who is on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, has made the trip with the team. Faulk's sideline presence is a benefit to the team. He's like having another coach.
National anthem & flyover. Tonight's national anthem will be performed by Fergie. The flyover will be the Air Force Global Strike Command B-2 Spirit, from Whiteman Air Force Base (Missouri).
Dolphins' honorary captains. The Dolphins' honorary captains for tonight's game are Dan Marino, Bob Griese, Larry Little and Dwight Stephenson.
