FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for 423 yards on Sunday, joining Panthers rookie Cam Newton as the only players in NFL history to throw for at least 400 yards in each of the first 2 games of a season.

Brady has now thrown for 940 yards this season, the most for any player in a team's first two games in NFL history and just 5 yards short of Phil Simms' NFL record for pass yards in consecutive games (Simms had 945 in Weeks 5-6 of 1985).

On the season, Brady is 63 of 88 (close to 72 percent) with 7 touchdowns and 1 interception.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick, understated as usual, deadpanned of Brady's performance Sunday: "Tom’s doing a good job."
