Patriots rookie Nate Solder in action.
Matt Williamson of ESPN's Scouts Inc., produces a weekly "Rookie Watch" in which he shares his opinion on the NFL's top rookies. This week's "Rookie Watch" is posted (Insider content) and Patriots offensive tackle Nate Solder shows up on the list at No. 8.
"Solder made a name for himself on national television in Week 1 against Cameron Wake," Williamson writes. "Wake got the better of him on occasion, but overall, it was a very solid first start for New England's right tackle. In Week 2, he was even better."
Solder wasn't part of Williamson's initial "Rookie Watch" rankings. He is one of four rookies to make the cut in Week 2 after missing out in the first week.
Solder didn't start in Sunday's win over the Chargers, as Sebastian Vollmer returned to the lineup after missing the opener with a back injury. Solder served as a third tight end and was on the field for 18 snaps, playing primarily a blocking role. He could be back in the starting lineup Sunday in Buffalo, as Vollmer has missed the last two days of practice.
