ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The importance of special teams was reflected in the promotion of safety Ross Ventrone from the practice squad on Saturday. Ventrone was part of the four "core" units in Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Bills -- kickoff return, kickoff coverage, punt return, and punt coverage.

The same was true for rookie linebacker Jeff Tarpinian.

A look at the players who showed up on multiple special teams units for the Patriots:

Four units
S James Ihedigbo
WR Matthew Slater
LB Jeff Tarpinian

LB Tracy White (edited at 11:49 a.m. after he was mistakenly left off)

Three units

S Sergio Brown
WR Julian Edelman
CB Antwaun Molden
