Raiders starting linebacker Rolando McClain spoke with reporters in the Bay Area on Monday, a rare occurrence according to Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times.
Corkran details McClain's remarks (link here) in which McClain shows respect to the Patriots ("a premiere team in the league for a while"), but at the same time might have provided some bulletin-board material to the team leading into Sunday's game between the 2-1 teams.
When asked if the Patriots present a different challenge than the Jets, McClain said, "This is just a finesse team. I mean, Tom Brady’s a smart guy, has many weapons around him, with his receivers as well as his tight ends. His tight ends are playing great right now."
One might take that "finesse" remark as a dig, as "finesse" and "football" usually aren't considered a compliment.
Regardless, for the fourth straight week the Patriots face an opponent who plan to use the game as an AFC barometer.
"Just another way to measure where we are right now," McClain says.
