Former Falcons defensive end Chauncey Davis was among three defenders worked out by the Patriots on Thursday, according to a league source.

The 28-year old Davis played in every game for the Falcons over the past six seasons, starting 25 contests before being released during final cuts this season. At 6-foot-2, 271 pounds, he has ten career sacks, having played mostly as a 4-3 defensive end.

The Patriots have Andre Carter (0.5 sacks), Shaun Ellis (0 sacks), Mark Anderson (2.0 sacks), and Jermaine Cunningham (0 sacks) currently on their roster at the position.

In addition, the Patriots worked out safety Sean Considine, who had played four games for the Panthers this season before being released on Tuesday. The 28-year old Iowa product has also played in 71 games for the Eagles and Jaguars, making 28 starts. Despite having Patrick Chung return to action last Sunday, the Patriots are still considered thin at the safety position.

Finally, linebacker Robert Eddins worked out on Thursday for the Patriots. The 6-foot-3, 248 pound Eddins went undrafted out of Ball State this season and played in the regular season opener for the Bills. He sustained a foot injury in the game, was placed on injured reserve, and was later released with an injury settlement.
