Weather and conditions: It will come as little solace to those digging out back home, but there's no snow in sight here, just temperatures that are expected to climb as high as the low 50's with some afternoon sunshine. There's some lingering fog this morning with temperatures in the mid 30's. As for concerns about the natural grass field, it looks in excellent shape from high above.
Carey gets the call: Mike Carey is the referee for today's game. His most notable Patriots assignment was Super Bowl XLII against the Giants.
Injuries and game-time decisions: The Patriots have ruled two players out in linebacker Dane Fletcher and safety Josh Barrett. The team will need to deactivate five more players before kickoff and eyes will be on the likes of linebacker Jerod Mayo (knee) and offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer (back), who were deemed questionable for this week's game. The Steelers have already made two noteworthy downgrades in wide receiver Hines Ward and linebacker James Farrior.
Television information: Today’s game is on CBS with Jim Nantz (play-by-play) and Phil Simms (color analyst) on the call.
Power outages force audible back home: Due to a storm-related power outage at Gillette Stadium, both the “Game with the Greats,” hosted by the Patriots' alumni club, and the away-game viewing for club members and suite holders have been cancelled, according to the team. Fans with tickets to “Game with the Greats” will be contacted with reschedule or refund information.
Gameday program: Steelers tight end Heath Miller is the coverboy for this week's Gameday program.
Pregame report: ESPN's Josina Anderson previews today's AFC showdown:
