Dan Pompei of the National Football Post writes his weekly "Sunday Blitz" column, and within it, he selects his mid-season All-Pro team on offense.

Pompei runs a three-receiver offense and he puts Wes Welker in one of the spots.

Pompei notes Welker's "great chemistry" with quarterback Tom Brady. After Sunday's game in Pittsburgh, Welker has 57 receptions for 824 yards and six touchdowns, and he joins the Lions' Calvin Johnson and the Panthers' Steve Smith on Pompei's ballot.

Welker is the lone Patriot to show up on Pompei's offensive unit, although two others received consideration.

Pompei mentions Brady in the quarterback discussion, but goes with the Packers' Aaron Rodgers. At tight end, the Saints' Jimmy Graham is the choice as he edges out Rob Gronkowski.

Hard to argue with the choices from a Patriots perspective, as no one along the offensive line would qualify (Logan Mankins hasn't been playing at an All-Pro level), Ditto at running back.

Gronkowski's inclusion in the discussion reflects how he's built on his impressive rookie campaign from 2010.
