Welker stayed in the game after the hard tackle and talked to reporters afterwards, an encouraging sign for his status, but he was one of two players (linebacker Dane Fletcher the other) not to participate in the first practice of the week.

Seven others were limited during the session for the Patriots (one of which was not defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, an encouraging sign as he continues to work through a back injury). Here's the full report:

Did not participate: LB Dane Fletcher (thumb), Wes Welker (neck)

Limited participation: S Josh Barrett (thumb), DE Shaun Ellis (ribs), RB Kevin Faulk (knee), RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (toe), TE Aaron Hernandez (knee), LB Jerod Mayo (knee), OT Sebastian Vollmer (back)

And for the Giants:

Limited participation: CB Prince Amukamara (foot), FB Henry Hynoski (neck), DE Justin Tuck (groin/neck)

Full participation: LB Michael Boley (knee)
