In the video above, ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss shares his takeaways from Sunday's Patriots victory, one that reminded him of the kind of performances the team delivered in the glory days of 2003-2004.
"Back in those days the Patriots used to plug players in on defense like Earthwind Moreland and Hank Poteat, even turned receiver Troy Brown into a slot corner without missing a beat," Reiss says in the video above. "That's exactly what happened in this game. With names like Jeff Tarpinian, Sterling Moore and Tracy White playing big roles, the defense played its best game of the season."
Reiss said coach Bill Belichick was so pleased with the performance he gave players the next two days off.
