WR/TE Dickerson added to practice squad

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Patriots signed wide receiver/tight end Dorin Dickerson to their practice squad on Wednesday. He fills the spot created when guard/center Nick McDonald was promoted to the 53-man roster on Saturday.

Dickerson was in for a workout on Friday and was expected to sign to the practice squad by today. The Pittsburgh product was drafted by the Texans in the seventh round last season. Playing in seven games in 2010, his contributions came mostly on special teams.

After he was released by the Texans following this preseason, the Steelers signed Dickerson to their practice squad on Sept. 12. Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Dickerson quit the team two days later, a report Dickerson denied. Dickerson was placed on the practice squad/injured list on Sept. 15 and was released with an injury settlement on Sept. 20.

At 6-foot-2, 227 pounds, Dickerson has some positional versatility, and could see time as both a wide receiver and tight end/h-back with the Patriots.
