The Denver Broncos have issued approximately 1,300 media credentials for Sunday's home game against the New England Patriots, which is double the number for a typical regular-season game.
That reflects the national interest in the game, a topic which is highlighted on the Denver Post's "First-and-Orange" blog (link here).
The Patriots are no strangers to this type of regular-season attention -- last year's Patriots-Jets game on Dec. 6 comes to mind as a similar situation -- but this is something new for the Broncos in recent years.
As noted by the Denver Post, "The team hasn’t issued this many credentials since the first game Sports Authority Field at Mile High (then called Invesco Field) for a Monday Night Football game against the Giants in 2001."
