FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Quick hits from the media-access period in the Patriots' locker room (4:15-5 p.m.):
1. Players drawing large media crowds were linebacker Brandon Spikes, wide receiver Deion Branch, and safety James Ihedigbo. After making his return to the field on Sunday, it was Spikes' first confab with the media in more than two months. Appropriately, Spikes ended the chat by telling reporters it was "nice seeing you guys. It's been a while."
2. Wide receiver Wes Welker will appeal his $10,000 fine the NFL levied against him for wearing an unauthorized hat for his podium interview following the Dolphins game.
3. While the team has yet not released its plans for Friday, players will be in for at least a morning meeting before the bye weekend.
4. Owner Robert Kraft walked through the locker room after a workout, chatting with Welker, who has not practiced this week.
