Last night, when news of Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien agreeing to become head coach at Penn State was reported by ESPN's Chris Mortensen, thoughts on possible candidates to replace him were shared (link here).
The feeling here was that Josh McDaniels would make a lot of sense. However, there was one significant road block -- McDaniels is under contract to the Rams (the Patriots reportedly requested permission to speak with him).
Sports Illustrated's Peter King reported today, via Twitter, that McDaniels will not be held to his contract if he decides he doesn't want to stay in St. Louis.
"Rams have told Josh McDaniels they won't hold him to his contract. If he wants to leave, they'll let him," King tweets.
