Brian Ferentz, who served as Patriots tight ends coach, has left the team to serve as Iowa's offensive line coach.

Iowa announced the hire today.

Ferentz joins the staff of his father, Kirk, who has strong ties to Bill Belichick. Kirk Ferentz was an assistant on Bill Belichick's Cleveland Browns staff in the 1990s.

This puts the Patriots in the market for a tight ends coach. If the past is any indication, Bill Belichick figures to explore in-house options first.

At the Super Bowl, Ferentz detailed his love for Iowa in our "football journey" series.
