Patriots running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis is in Springfield, Mass. tonight to drop the puck at the Springfield Falcons American Hockey League game.

Nick Underhill, who covers the Patriots for the Springfield Republican, reports on the appearance, and Green-Ellis' current free-agent status.
The 26-year-old said that negotiations have been ongoing between him and the organization, and hopes that an agreement will eventually be reached.

"It's not a perfect world," Green-Ellis said when asked if he'd like to remain a Patriot. "I just know that both sides are working on it and hopefully things get done."

He isn't going to sit back and wait for that moment to come, though. Green-Ellis has been fielding offers from other teams and will be in Cincinnati this weekend to meet with the Bengals and tour the team's facilities.

Green-Ellis wouldn't elaborate on the situation other than to say, "It's just some things that got to happen."
