Patriots release fullback Polite

The Patriots announced that veteran fullback Lousaka Polite has been released.

Polite, 30, joined the Patriots on Dec. 27, 2011, and played in the season finale against Buffalo as well as all three postseason games, including Super Bowl XLVI.

He played sparingly, chipping in on special teams as well.

Over the last week, the Patriots have agreed to terms with fullbacks Spencer Larsen (Broncos) and Tony Fiammetta (Cowboys), making Polite a long shot to earn a roster spot.
