Now that compensatory draft choices have been awarded by the NFL, the exact spots of each Patriots draft pick is known. Prior to last week, only the spots in the first, second and third round were solidified.

1a. 27th overall
1b. 31st overall
2a. 48th overall
2b. 62nd overall
3. 93rd overall
4. 126th overall

Beginning Tuesday, a look at some of the recent players picked in those spots is being highlighted, continuing today at 62.

2011: RB Daniel Thomas (Dolphins)
2010: LB Brandon Spikes (Patriots)
2009: DT Sen'Derrick Marks (Titans)
2008: CB Terrence Wheatley (Patriots)
2007: DE Dan Bazuin (Bears)
2006: CB Tim Jennings (Colts)
2005: CB Bryant McFadden (Steelers)

ANALYSIS: Assuming the Patriots keep the pick -- which is a big "if" given Bill Belichick's willingness to wheel and deal -- this is a spot the Patriots have a lot of familiarly with, having selected twice in the past four years at 62. One of those selections, Wheatley (2008), was a bust, along with the Bears' selection of Bazuin in 2007, whose career was cut short by a knee injury. The other, Spikes, has been a solid contributor to the Patriots' defense since 2010. All of the other selections remain in the NFL, including Jennings, who started 15 games for the Bears last season.
