FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Training camp may be more than a month away, but count Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer among those looking for the time to fly until late July.

With the team breaking for the summer after last week's minicamp, Hoyer said on Wednesday that he is already mentally preparing for the long days and hotel living that training camp will bring.

"I think we're all excited for training camp, I was talking to (linebacker) Jerod (Mayo) about it," Hoyer said. "We're just ready to get going. Even with the lockout last year, this year seems like it's going slower almost. We're just waiting and wishing to get to training camp."

Hoyer was a guest instructor at Tedy Bruschi's football clinic at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday evening. Like Mayo, he has opted not to travel elsewhere for his five-week break.

"For me, I like to stay close. That way I can always come up here to the facility, watch film, throw, run, and everything like that," Hoyer explained. "When you go somewhere else, you have to find a field, you have to find somewhere to work out. And obviously you can't take the film with you. It's always good to stick around. And you can always run down to Cape Cod if you want to hit the beach. I'm here for the long haul."

Players can't interact with coaches during this period, but Hoyer will be looking to bounce back from a rough minicamp where he threw multiple interceptions during live play drills.

"Just have to move on," Hoyer said. "If anyone has a good reason to be excited for training camp, it's me. I'm really looking forward to it."
