The Patriots announced today that they will hold joint practices with the Buccaneers, in Tampa, prior to the teams' August preseason game.
The joint practices will be held Wednesday Aug. 22 and Thursday Aug. 23, and will be closed to the public. The teams will then play Friday, Aug. 24 at Raymond James Stadium, the third preseason game for both squads.
The practices will be held at the Buccaneers' facility at One Buc Place.
The connection between head coaches Bill Belichick and Greg Schiano likely played a big part in scheduling the practices. Belichick also probably liked the idea of working in the heat and humidity leading up to the team's regular-season opener at Tennessee.
The Patriots will have a quick turnaround, as their second preseason game is Monday, Aug. 20 against the Eagles (televised on ESPN).
Earlier in August, the Patriots are also scheduled to hold joint practices with the Saints, at Gillette Stadium. Those joint practices, on Aug. 7 and Aug. 8, are open to the public.
