Free-agent tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, who visited with the Patriots last week, is deciding between the Eagles and Patriots, according to NFL Network's Steve Wyche.
This adds more context to the Patriots' interest in Shiancoe (why it makes sense; initial follow-up). My belief is that the Patriots wouldn't go much higher than a one-year, veteran minimum deal to add a player who would join Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez and Daniel Fells on the depth chart.
So if the Eagles are willing to top that, and offer a more clear-cut role than what Shiancoe would have in New England, they would seem to have an advantage in those areas.
Wyche reports Shiancoe could have a deal signed by Tuesday night.
