Patriots release RB Addai
The Patriots announced the release of veteran running back Joseph Addai today. ESPNBoston.com's Field Yates reports, citing a source, that Addai failed a physical upon reporting to the team Wednesday.
The move comes as a mild surprise, as Addai had inked a one-year contract in May that included a $75,000 signing bonus and $50,000 workout bonus. His veteran presence had been lauded by some of the team's younger backs in spring camps.
This leaves second-year players Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen, Danny Woodhead and rookie free agent Brandon Bolden as the lone backs on the roster.
