Linebacker Brandon Spikes passed his physical on Wednesday, and was removed from the active/physically unable to perform list, a league source confirmed.
The move likely signals that Spikes will be ready to practice when the Patriots open training camp on Thursday.
Spikes missed organized team activities this spring that were open to reporters, likely recovering from an offseason knee procedure. He had been placed on the active/PUP list on Monday, along with five other players, who remain on the list as of Wednesday evening.
In addition, reserve offensive lineman Nick McDonald was placed on the active/PUP list. The reason for the move was not immediately known. McDonald had been a full participant in organized team activities and minicamp.
Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe first reported the transactions.
