FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots first-round pick Chandler Jones completed his first training-camp practice as an NFL player on Thursday, but to the 22-year-old, it still doesn't seem real.
"I feel like I'm still dreaming," Jones said after practice. "But I'm taking it one day at a time."
The Patriots can't have contact practices until Saturday, meaning Jones hasn't yet had a chance to prove himself in the trenches or as a pass rusher. But off the field, Jones said, he has learned to better manage his time compared with college.
"Whenever I was in school, when I got out of practice, I did homework or played video games," Jones said. "But guys are going home to their families and guys are getting into their playbooks. This is our job."
Jones wore large braces on each knee for Thursday's practice. Asked whether he was wearing them as a precaution or because of previous injury, Jones simply responded that they "are a part of our uniform."
