Belichick to attend Reid funeral

August, 6, 2012
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick on Tuesday will join a number of members of the Saints organization, which is in town as the teams prepare for a pair of joint practices prior to their Thursday night preseason contest, at the funeral of Garrett Reid, the late son of Eagles head coach Andy Reid, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

The 29-year-old Reid was found dead in his dorm room at Lehigh University, site of the Eagles training camp, on Sunday morning. He was attending training camp and assisting the team's strength and conditioning staff.

Belichick and Reid, the two longest-tenured head coaches in the NFL, have shared a close friendship for many years.

On Sunday, Belichick offered his condolences to Reid. "Very sad. Andy is a good friend of mine," he said. "My heart goes out to him and his family."
