FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, the tight-end duo that terrorized the NFL in 2011, sat out Monday’s full-pads practice at Gillette Stadium.

Both were spotted at the start of practice, wearing shorts and T-shirts, and later went to work with members of the team’s athletic training and medical staff.

Gronkowski also was held out of Sunday’s practice.

Earlier Monday, coach Bill Belichick was asked if Gronkowski has been managed differently based on his having offseason ankle surgery and said that wasn’t the case. The injury status of both players does not appear to be serious.

Veteran receiver Brandon Lloyd also didn’t participate in practice.

A few other observations:

Bequette shows up against Solder. Third-round draft choice Jake Bequette had a few speed rushes against left tackle Nate Solder in one-on-one drills. He looked quick.

Wilfork tough to handle in one-on-ones. When veteran defensive lineman Vince Wilfork turns it on, he’s tough to handle in one-on-one drills. He gave interior lineman Nick McDonald fits today.

Modest crowd. One can tell this is getting close to the end of the public portion of training camp as the crowds have thinned considerably.

More observations to come.
