FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes has been back on the practice field the last three days after missing the previous week, which included the team's preseason opener against the Saints.
Spikes spoke with reporters after Tuesday's practice, and here is part of the Q&A:
How are you feeling out there?
"I'm feeling good. Just to be back with the guys running around, it's good."
Is it frustrating to be on the field, off the field, on the field again? Does that wear on you?
"It's a part of the game, man. It's a part of it. I just try to stay ahead. My teammates do a great job of motivating me every day. I just have to keep working to be the best that I can, so it is what it is."
Is this going to be a chronic thing going forward, or are you trying to nip it in the bud by resting the days that you rest?
"I really don't know. It's just a day by day, next step. Just wake up and I just try to go at it. Doesn't matter what it is, if I'm having a bad day or not, I just try to have a productive day"
Is it hard not to get frustrated because you want to get out there so much and be a part of it?
"Yeah, of course everybody wants to play the game and you want to be with the guys, flying around and having fun. It gets to me every now and then, but like I said, I knew I had this challenge in front of me, so I'm ready mentally and physically, so I just keep working every day."
Do you feel you can be more aggressive on the field?
“Absolutely. That’s my nature. Be aggressive, be a shark – it’s shark week so you know, of course [laughs].”
