In an Associated Press piece now posted on ESPN.com, safety Steve Gregory is profiled.
The former San Diego Charger signed with the Patriots this offseason and has been playing mostly alongside Patrick Chung as part of the team's top safety tandem. As Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio said Tuesday, "so far, so good."
The Associated Press looks at Gregory's career path in the NFL, joining the Chargers in 2006 as a free agent out of Syracuse.
"To get to this point in my career where I'm at today, it makes me proud, but there's still a lot of work left ahead of me," said Gregory, who had an interception in the preseason opener and added one in practice Tuesday. "I still have a lot of football left to play. I'm still just as motivated and focused as I was back then."
Gregory added that he's from "Undrafted University", which contributes to the chip on his shoulder.
